Casa de Quartzsite

This is my entrance to the compound. I had an exhibitor from the Tyson Wells Sell-A-Rama show next door make this entrance sign for me. It's our corporate logo with some additions. Below is a close-up of same. Also, on the right side between palms and down that fence line you can see our bird houses. I have included some pics of those following the picture of our entrance sign below.

This is one of many bird houses we've collected. Following are some more.

This is actually a feeding gazebo.

This is a "bird condo" I bought next door at Tyson Wells.

Mal put in a couple of these feeders for the Quail, Doves & Rabbits.

Here are some of the 4 legged variety we get. This is part of a herd of Mule Deer that enjoy our backyard buffet during the summer months after all the RVers leave. They've been showing up every summer since we put out the water and feed. Mal put out a "salt lick" for them too.

I took the above picture of the "compound" during the 2003 show. Below you will find a photos taken during the 2001 show.

houseaerial1.jpg (56832 bytes)

This is an aerial photo I took during the show. I had a helicopter land just to the left of that red pick-up you can see. I had two TV crews in town that needed to use the helicopter and I always go up in some kind of aircraft to get a shot of the show grounds (see www.quartzsitervshow.com for that photo) so I had the guy pick us up right at the front door. The home on the left is Mal's. We bought that one a few years ago for next to nothing. Mal fixed it up, put in the yard. (we have the largest real lawn in town) You can see a swimming pool in the upper left of the photo. Since this photo was taken we installed a 15' x 30' pool to replace it. (see photo below) Makes it real nice when it's 100+ during the summer! We bought my home in 2000 and Mal made it into a real nice spot to call home while you're out there. You can see the fire pit next to the stairs coming down from the lawn. Next to the fire pit is our personal "Mariachi Band". (see photos below) During the show we cook dinner at the house just about every night. My house has a huge patio (see photos below) so we ate outside and watched the most beautiful sunsets you can image just about every night. (see last photo on this page) As you can see from the aerial photo, our homes are bordered on both sides by BLM (Bureau of Land Management). The next private property to our East and South is several miles away. During the summer there is a small herd of Mule deer that show up to graze on the food Mal puts out as well as rabbits, coyotes, road runners, quail, and, of course, rattle snakes. During the winter the RVers scare away most of the big animals and the rattle snakes are hibernating (thank goodness!).

housepic2.jpg (63337 bytes)

Above is a shot of the patio and the fire ring. You can see the Mariachi band next to the lawn. I have added some close-ups of them below. We found a truck full of them in the show parking lot one afternoon. We had the guys drive back to the house and we lined up all of them and finally settled on the three pictured above. We added a fourth to the trio. He's playing a stand-up base as you'll see below. I had someone run into Blythe the next day and pick up a lighting system for them. Mal has the whole back yard decorated with ground lighting and Xmas type white light on the palm trees, cactus, etc. They're all on timers and the yard looks unbelievable at night. We hide a CD player in the bushes behind the band with Mariachi music playing for ambiance. We had some of our past and present entertainers there most party nights playing live music under the stars. You've got to come out during the show and join us one of these years!

wpe12.jpg (409925 bytes)

These guys are made out of old oil cans down in Mexico. The detail is amazing and the more weathered they get, the better they look. We've named them "Tubby" "Onion", "Voodoo" and "Horny" and I'll give you the story on those names when you come out to visit. They make more sense after you've had a couple of margaritas. The best thing is that the Mariachis work for next to nothing!

poolpic1.jpg (38816 bytes)

Here is a photo of the new pool and pool patio area. This is actually an above ground pool that we buried. It's only 4' deep and doesn't need a heater as the sun keeps it at 80+ all summer.

Cabo Fishing Pics, etc. 027.jpg (1455870 bytes)

We boughta couple of these golf carts. Mal's is yellow.

housepic3.jpg (60017 bytes)

Above is a shot from the front of my house with all the toys hooked up and ready for the river. The Seadoos behind my truck are a real kick-in-the-butt! They are so fast it's scary. The kids love them when they can get Mal and I off them. The boat behind Mal's truck is a 24' day cruiser with a big, bad engine and is great for moving a group. It holds 6-7 people no problem. We're only 20 miles from the Colorado River and have the use of a friend's house on the river with a nice yard and dock where we can leave the toys while we're over there so we don't have to launch and pull them out each day. The bottom photo is looking north from the fire ring. Mal installed one of these telephone pole entrances you can see for each house. Mal's entrance is pictured below. We just baught another one of the brass entrance signs that will replace the wood sign shown below on Mal's entrance.

wpeE.jpg (22757 bytes)

Mal's entrance. Pool pictured above in through the gate with the red flowers and just to the left. My house sits to the right, out of the frame.

boatpic1.jpg (47733 bytes)

Notice the name of our boat? Fitting isn't it! If you have a problem reading it on the web page it says "Sir Roh Sis of the River". Wish I could take credit for the name but it was Mal's.

A typical view of the sunset from the deck behind the house where we usually eat our dinners and entertain during the shows.

Well, that's about it for now. Hope all of you can get out there and visit us soon!
