MAL MALLORY

Back to Home Page

After too many months I am finally posting this page. I apologize to my newfound friends, Steve Raines and Ed Henn from the Chicago area. These guys were there when Mark and I arrived and became close friends and confidants in the next few days. I apologize for the time it has taken for me to upload this page, that was promised  to be put up upon my return, I have a lot of lame excuses for not getting it done back then, but the bottom line is that I was too lazy too do it on my main system. Now that I have my lap top back I am following through with my promise.

That being said. Here are my photos.

Loreto Fishing June 2006 001 (Small).jpg (75358 bytes)

This was a beautiful spot that I stumbled into on the internet.

I have been going down to Baja since 1969 and this place is the cleanest and best run spots I have stayed!  Now this is also one of the least expensive spots I have ever stayed!

This is the dining area that was available for any of the 5 or 6 cabanas. That's a "conventional" BBQ and a gas BBQ in the rear. The teak table was always set and can accommodate 10 or more people for dinner. There is olive oil, spices...! You just don't find spots like this in Baja. Or anywhere that I have been. And I have been a lot of places. This is very unique!

As you can see, the grounds are beautiful and spotless.

This is the owners home. The day we left they told us to use their home as ours so they could make sure our cabana was clean and ready for the next guests. We had a computer at our disposal to confirm our airline reservations and print out our boarding passes. I have never been treated better anywhere I have traveled!

Here is my fishing partner, Mark, catching a few Z's while our new friends from Chicago, Steve and Ed waited for me to serve them their dinner. (Not really!)

These guys were a couple of the nicest people I have ever met on one of these trips! They shared their fresh caught Dorado with Mark and I, plus a couple of friends that we invited to dinner one evening, every night. We only ate out one night of the 4 we stayed there. These guys could also be counted on to tip a few up with us as well.

Here's a local Do-do coming to gaff.

On the gaff.

I managed to snag a sailfish on 20 lb. line the second day. We actually had 4 or 5 fish fighting over the two baits we were dragging. We had a double hook-up and managed to land both fish.

Here I am with"Utta", who was on the other sailfish I alluded to in the last photo. She is an old friend from the beach area in So. Calif. where I live that bought a lot in Loreto and retired there.

That's just a little glimpse of Loreto. Here is one of several beautiful sunsets we enjoyed during our trip. If anyone finds this page and wants to enjoy the great hospitality we were afforded in Loreto. Here is a link to their web site. Or you can e-mail me at the link back up on the left side of this page.

The best place I have ever stayed in Baja in the 40 years I have been traveling there!
